Frontier™ Standard – Robust, Fully Scalable Access Control and Security
Frontier™ Standard is a comprehensive security solution that provides real-time monitoring and control of access doors and alarm points for local and remote installations. It is scalable from single site to global operations with leading-edge features such as embedded credential production, American Disabilities Act (ADA) support, elevator control, lock exempt operation and an array of hot, warm and cold backup solutions. Frontier™ Standard access control softwareʼs open architecture ensures easy integration with biometrics, CCTV/DVR solutions, intrusion detection, guard tour, HR solutions, infant abduction, fire system secondary annunciation and visitor management systems.
Expandability
Frontier™ Standard access control systems software grows with your operation. It can be configured for virtually any size installation and can accommodate up to 1,000,000 badges. In a single-server environment, Frontier™Standard can control from 16 to 16,000 doors and virtually an unlimited number of doors in a multi-server environment.
Reliability
Eliminate the risk inherent in security systems that depend solely on network communication with Frontier™ Standard’s three layers of database redundancy. Frontier™ Standard controls access in the event of loss of network connectivity or server or controller failure. In the event of a server’s hard drive failure, fault tolerance is supported (using RAID levels) as well as an optional warm backup solution minimizing server downtime.
Dependability
Frontier™ Standard is backed by experienced Matrix personnel who have more than 500 combined years in the security and access control industry. The Frontier™ Standard package comes with secure remote support for software and hardware that allows for online assistance from Matrix personnel. Matrix hardware is of uncompromising quality and reliability, proven in the harshest environments. In the rare event of a component failure, Matrix devices are easy to repair.
Cost-effectiveness
Frontier™ Standard software licenses never expire, providing an affordable solution for any organization. The licenses are sold per server and workstation as a one-time, paid-up software license, which includes upgraded software licenses as long as the client maintains a service agreement with Matrix. In addition, Frontier™ Standard access control software is backward compatible with all Matrix equipment (badge readers, reader control modules and alarm panels), allowing you to add to your existing Matrix access control system without replacement of your Matrix hardware*.
Convenience
Frontier™ Standard access control software provides an intuitive graphical user interface, allowing for easy setup and use. With one command, all doors or all alarms can be controlled.
Assurance
Frontier™ Standard uses industry standard software including: Microsoft® Windows®, Microsoft® SQL Server and Crystal Reports.
Efficiency
Frontier™ Standard is based on an open architecture platform using Microsoft® SQL Server ODBC-compliant database, allowing access by third-party programs or interfaces if required. Frontier™ Standard also provides integration with Photo Identification Badging software as well as interfaces to Ad-Hoc Reporting, CCTV, Digital Video Recording, Fire System Secondary Annunciation, and Infant Abduction.

Optional Features
Alarm Notification
Frontier™ Standard users with SMTP interface devices can be notified via email or pager of alarm activity. The alarm notification feature may be configured so only certain Frontier™ Standard users and/or certain alarms receive notification.
Backup Options
There are three types of backup server options: cold, warm and hot, which can be used in conjunction with Frontier™ Standard security management software to assure maximum security in the event of a primary server hardware failure.
CCTV
An optional CCTV interface allows for selected security cameras and monitors to be associated with selected alarms when an alarm activates in order to provide real–time video of an alarm occurrence.
CTIME
CTIME allows Frontier™ Standard to collect badge transactions for time reporting purposes. CTIME supports the basic pairing of “In” and “Out” transactions collected for designated badge holders at designated readers.
Digital Video Recording
The digital recording feature allows for alarms to be tagged to record video and/or audio. The recorded video, related to an alarm, can then be played back using Frontier™ Standard access control software, which provides video playback prior to an alarm occurrence.
Domains
Frontier™ Standard supports restricting command privileges for specific objects defined in the Frontier™ Standard system (e.g., access, alarms, badges, doors). For example, without the optional feature of domains, if a user is granted permission to unlock doors, the user can unlock any door in the system. The optional Domains feature in Frontier™ Standard access control software allows specific doors to be restricted from specific users, thus restricting control of door(s) that are not included in the user’s domain.
Elevator Control
Controls badge holder access to elevator floors and allows Frontier™ Standard users to control the state of elevator floors.
Events Archive
Events Archive provides reporting and storage capabilities for long-term events beyond Frontier™ Standard’s normal capacity.
Extended Field Edit Logging
Tracks edits made to security badge records in Frontier™ Standard and saves the changed value from a field, grid or add/remove list. Operators can run a report to view the changes made to badge records.
Field-by-field Permissions
Restricts a user’s ability to view specified fields in Frontier™ Standard’s Badge Setup window and Pass Setup window. Administrators can configure view, edit and/or view caption privileges for operators for certain fields.
Frontier™ ImageWorks
ImageWorks is fully integrated in Frontier™ Standard, allowing for badge design, image capture and direct badge printing from the Frontier™ Standard application.
HR Interface
Brings employee information from an outside Human Resource system into Frontier™ Standard by way of an ASCII comma-delimited file containing employee information.
Key Control
Gives the capability to monitor and control the tracking of mechanical keys at a facility.
Multiple Calendars
Provides a method for adding more than one calendar/holiday schedule into Frontier™ Standard. This is useful for facilities spread out over large areas.
Prox Encoding
Allows users to encode proximity cards directly from Frontier™ Standard.
Reader Messaging
An optional feature that displays messages entered in Frontier™ Standard on the reader’s display when a badge holder uses his/her badge.
Serial Alarm Interface
The serial alarm interface provides the ability to generate an alarm based on information sent to Frontier™ Standard from an outside system over a serial interface.
Two Person/Two Badge
Two person access control provides the ability to ensure a specified area always contains at least two badge holders. Two badge provides the ability to require two different valid badges to be presented at a card or proximity reader before access will be granted to a portal.
Visitor Management
The Frontier™ Standard visitor management option supports interfaces with the industry’s top two visitor management systems: EasyLobby and STOPware.
Watch List
Proven at some of the nation’s busiest airports, the Frontier™Standard Watch List feature compares names listed on the TSA “No-Fly” and “Selectee” lists with names in Frontier™Standard’s badge database. This unique feature reveals badge holders who potentially match either list.
